Fresh Cuttings

September 2012

It's been a slice...

A CHANGE IS AS GOOD AS THE REST...
After 6 and a half years we figure that we need to be down with the kids and move our news and gossip to Facebook. We hope you'll still love us and check us out from time to time - maybe even like or share us with your friends...
See you very soon

August 2012

SLAM DUNK
We are very proud to announce that were recently approached by the NBA to help them with a few sponsorship related projects. The relationship seems to be going from strength to strength and hopefully we'll be able to show your some of our three pointers soon.

THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER
Our London office were lucky enough to get tickets to London 2012 - to the dismay of us here in New York. Beach volleyball actually is all its cracked up to be... Apparently.

MAKING PROGRESS
THE FOREST has completed the identity for Progress Sponsorship and Communications based in bonny Scotland. Progress came to us from a word of mouth recommendation and we look forward to working with them on more projects very soon.

July 2012

JUST SIMPLY CRAZY
July was just an unreal month for our US office as we set sail (kind of) on a trip to Fenway Park, M&T Bank Stadium and Red Bull Arena. We were guests of Liverpool Football Club, James Grant Sport and LFC International / CONCACAF respectively to watch some exhibition soccer. It was a whirlwind tour but we loved every minute of it... So did Steve Nash! Click the picture to see our pitch side action...

June 2012

ZONED OUT
We were asked by Upper 90 to create an identity and experiential 'fan zone' for the Brooklyn-based store.

Upper 90 apart from being NYC's favourite soccer store, run coaching sessions for children on a man-made field facility within and for the Euros, they wanted to make the space work a little harder.

The idea was to attract a different kind of soccer fan whilst providing a safe environment and raising awareness of the Upper 90 brand.

Traditional football seating was brought in at the back of the arena along with surround sound to provide an atmospheric environment.

MAY 2011

GRASS ROOTS FOOTBALL 2012
It's that time of year where we get to attend Grass Roots Football at the NEC, Birmingham. Not only was the show bigger and better, it gave us the opportunity to produce 40% more design and branding which we thought looked great. We are biased though...

If we can make it there, we can make it anywhere

April 2012

HAND PICKED
We were approached by Nolan Partners to tweak their identity and shake up their website. Identity done... Website on it's way!

WEST SIDE...
NYC HQ recently moved to new premises in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. Pop in for a nosey...

SERVED UP A TREAT
Having won a 3 way pitch in July last year, we have recently completed working with brandRapport to produce an identity and set of guidelines for the Center Parcs National Schools Championship in association with Badminton England.

March 2012

Leaders and Wasserman

LEADERS 2012 SIGNED!
We are proud to announce that we have just signed the contract with Leaders and will continue to be their chosen design agency for the 5th year in succession.

WASSERMAN MEDIA GROUP
Our New York studio recently started working with WMG on a variety of sports-based projects. We'll keep you posted (when we can) of what we are up to via our website so keep checking for more info...

February 2012

NOT WALL STREETBUT BROADWAY
Here at THE FOREST we are all about good ideas. We stumbled onto this little gem inside the Converse store on Broadway.

The good old Stars and Stripes made here out of Converse Chuck Taylor® High Top Sneaker/trainers - depending on which side of the pond you are on...

If we can make it there, we can make it anywhere

January 2012

VA VA VOOM!
Thanks to our friends at Adworthy, we are currently working with Pine Belt Cars of Lakewood, New Jersey.

December 2011

A Christmas message from both sides of the pond
2011 has been a crazy year to say the least. More new clients, more relationships, more friends and even more family. We want to thank you all, as always for your constant support... Enjoy those biscuits/cookies!

If we can make it there, we can make it anywhere

November 2011

Sports Journalists' Associatio

SJA - ALL THE WAY
With a cracking referal from our friends at Redtorch, the Sports Journalists' Association asked us to design their event collateral for 2011/2012...

Keep an eye out for what we produced...

Youth Sports Association

THERE SHE BLOWS
Lewis Silkin gave us a call to see if we could help out with even more event collateral. 'Can you do it really quick and can you ship it to Chicago ASAP?'

Our NY office was on hand to make this a very easy process and was delivered on time to the Windy City...

October 2011

BRANCHING OUT...
Possibly the worst pun ever on our website, but after 6 long years of blood, sweat and tears (literally) we are VERY proud to announce we have opened our 2nd office - this time in New York.

Our NY studio will continue to build and develop relationships with sports properties on both sides of the pond.

Does this mean that Karl now gets his birthday off EVERY SINGLE YEAR? Born on the 4th July... I guess he does.

Awesome!

If we can make it there, we can make it anywhere

Kicking and Screening

‘THIS FRICKIN’ GAME IS WRECKIN‘ MY LIFE’
September saw the inaugral London Kicking + Screening Football Film Festival taking place at Everyman Cinemas dotted around the smoke.

We became aware of the festival back in July when we were in the Big Apple and ended up hooking up with Tom Watt and Grant Best once back in London to help them produce a set of posters to promote the 10 film event.

Click here to see our showcase

Real Deals

REAL DEAL OR NO DEAL
We have been working with TylerMangan on a 8 page publication that will be featured on Real Deals - available for download. As well as designing the paper, we also produced a set of five images to illustrate company founding members stereotypes.

Lets hope we don’t draw one of Karl!

Clarence

BEARING ALL
Our relationship with Birds Eye seems to be going from strength to strength and not only on the work front...
Darren’s mum finally saved up enough tokens to get him his very own Clarence Bear.

Darren actually is friends with Clarence on Facebook and recently uploaded this picture to try and win a lifetime supply of chicken dippers... We don’t mess about here you know...

August 2011

TylerMangan

WORD OF MOUTH
Having been given a very nice recommedation by our friends at Spada PR, we have hooked up with specialist leadership consultancy, TylerMangan, who we have been helping with their corporate collateral.

Keep an eye out for more...

Youth Sports Association

THE YOUTH OF TODAY... I TELL YOU
On the back of our success with Grass Roots Football, we were approached by the Youth Sports Association to give them a new identity.

The YSA provide football skills camps for two age groups of children. Based in Worcester, they work with local schools and clubs... Give us the next Gazza... Please...

BACK IN THE BIG APPLE
We are back in town for the MLS All-Star where we not only attended but we got a chance to play in a match the morning before the real kick off.

We made lots of friends and bumped into quite a few old ones - Liberty herself and good old Thierry Henry.

Watch this space for some exciting NY news very soon...

PIRI-TEASY!
The new range of Piri products are finally finished. You’ll be able to find the Piritese, Piriton and Pirinase range in a supermarket near you.

The new pack designs and brand marques are an evolution of the previous packaging, ensuring brand stand out vs competitors, heroing Piri within each brand name and driving a more umbrella brand feel across the entire range.

The updated imagery within the petal icons and new pack cues and lockups give the range a fresh feel whilst still retaining the key brand equities that customers connect with, making the Piri range appear more innovative and acting as the leader within its class.

Bless ya!

ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET... GO!
The branding for the final two events to be held at these years Leaders is now being rolled out. Digital Sport and Racing will both take place on the 6th October at Chelsea FC.

May 2011

LEADERS 2011
The new branding and website(s) have been designed and launched for Leaders, LeadersinFootball, LeadersinPerformance and LeadersinSponsorship. Our 4th and best season by far with the Leaders team.

BACK AT WEMBLEY
We were invited to the Eon sponsored FA Cup Final at Wembley by our friends at Action Images. We truly had a great day out, its just a shame we had such bad seats!

AYE AYE CAPTAIN! We are working with Birds Eye on some NPD pack designs and their 'Winner Dinner' promotion. We'll stick it up when we can a minute… Keep an eye out…

WHEREVER YOU MAY BE
Chelsea FC have asked us to create a new ad campaign to promote their TV channel, Chelsea TV. The campaign will run over printed collateral, web and television.

NEARLY TIME FOR KICK-OFF
The Grass Roots Football Show, now sponsored by BRMB is coming along swimmingly. The new marketing brochure just came back from the printers…

FRAMED - TWICE IN 2 MONTHS
The business cards for A-Frame Productions have landed as well. We are keeping busy with that website. Nearly there…

April 2011

WE'VE BEEN FRAMED!
We have just produced the identity for A-Frame Productions. Based in Brooklyn, NY we are currently helping them with their stationery and website. We'll keep you posted when it goes live…

'AND THEY WE'RE ALL YELLOW...'
It's gone identity mad this month! Yellow Poppy Media create commercial partnerships between celebs and corporate clients and asked us to give them an identity, stationery and… you've guessed it - a website. The CMS driven site can be viewed by clicking here >

CONGRATULATIONS!
Here at THE FOREST, we wanted to wish Wills and Kate all the best on their big day. To celebrate - we decided NOT to have a party… We simply went to Barcelona…

BACK TO THE FUTURE
It was like being 1997 again minus Steve Burdett!!! So we went BACK to Barcelona and just like the last time took loads and LOADS of pictures - you never know! The city is amazing and so inspirational. Here are just a few snaps of our time in Spain…

GRASS ROOTS CAN BE SAVAGE
Grass Roots finally launched and who better to show the design world - Robbie Savage. Design Week was all over it!

SAVING THE TREES AND ALL THAT...
On a recent trip to Robin Hood land - that's Nottingham for anyone who doesn't know, at the point we collected our tickets from St. Pancras, we were appauld by the amount of tickets you are actually given for one journey. When we asked the ticket inspector why we needed so many, the only response she could give us was to 'Next time, buy a ticket on the day - it will cost you 4 times as much but at least you will only have one ticket… Now are you bothered about the trees?'

Sort it out Midland Mainline and let's get a little more responsible...

One City, Two Teams
A day out at Wembley for the FA Cup Semi Final AND right behind the goal - it doesn't get any better than that!

March 2011

SP(R)AIN YET AGAIN
We were back at La Manga courtesy of or friends at Leaders where we kicked it (quite literally) with some of the biggest hitters in sport. No semi final or awards this year - only sprains, bumps and bruises for The Forest massive although a duet on the karaoke with our favourite friend from British Airways went down a treat. I wish we could say the same about the JågerBombs… Do 'em again… Do 'em again...

WE GOT TIME FOR THE CRIME
We are working with Russell Jones & Walker and their Business Crime & Regulation Team. We can't tell you what we are doing just yet as it's a secret… Watch this space

NEW IDENTITY FOR RED TORCH
Red Torch Events recently approached us to do a refresh on their identity. Now complete, we are working with them on their stationery, website and corporate guidelines.

MORE VOXPOPS
Sports fanatic Karl was asked by Design Week which sporting event he would like to rebrand. Click the pic to find out which one…

February 2011

MELO SIGNS FOR THE KNICKS
Karl was back in NY again recently and although no Soho House, he was lucky enough (you know who you are!)to get tickets to The Garden to see Carmelo Anthony's debut for the Knicks against Milwaukee. An amazing evening all round… Is there now hope of the play-offs? Watch this space - Watch the video actually by clicking on the pic…

THIS PACKAGING IS SWEET!
These were spotted whilst being out and about the Big Apple - great idea… The sweets weren't bad either…

SUPERBASH!
Thanks to our friends at the NFL UK who invited us to kick it with Vernon Kaye at the O2 Arena for SuperBowl XLV

PRO FC KICK-OFF
Mad Dog Martin Allen's Pro FC finally launched at the Grange Hotel, St. Paul's. Both Karl and Darren were invited along where Martin did his stuff for the SKY cameras and hosted a special raffle. Darren won a pair of DJ Campbell's boots - GET IN!

'MAD' VIRALS
Check out Martin sporting our PRO FC gear whilst chatting to some of his pals...

KILLING CANCER
Last night we attended a concert to raise awareness and money for Killing Cancer. Set up by The Who frontman, Roger Daltrey. He arranged an evening with Richard Ashcroft, Brian Adams, Jeff Beck, Debbie Harry and The Who.

Killing Cancer concentrates on PDT - Photodynamic Therapy, which works by combining drug and light.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN... LET’S PLAY DARTS...AND CRICKET AND FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL!!?!?!?!
We figured we may do a sports round up as it January as there is so much stuff going on.

In England, it’s that time of year again where the studio is getting excited about all the Arrows action up at Ally Pally! Come on the Power...

Over the pond, we’d like to say well done to the New York Jets for making the play-offs via the Wild Card Weekend where they sealed their victory in the last kick of the game. Staying on a US tip, the Knicks are also looking good for the play-offs thans to the signing of Forward, Amaré Stoudemire from the Phoenix Suns on a $100m, 5 year deal. Amaré is also looking a cert for the NBA MVP - let’s hope so... While you’re at it, why not vote for him to play in the All Stars game by clicking here.

England retained the Ashes in Australia. Well Done to Andrew Strauss and the boys for pulling it out the bag when it counted.

Finally, you may notice a certain scoreboard image above which you may wish to point out happened in December. We know this, however, our intrepid leader, Karl, says we’ll be talking about this in January, February, March, April and May. Listen, we just do as we’re told and smile...

Images , as always, with many thanks to our pals at Action Images.

SING WHEN YOU’RE WINNING
We are very pleased to announce that we have struck up a three year deal with Grass Roots Football - an event based at the NEC in Birmingham which focusses on everything at grass roots level and is aimed at players, coaches and referees.

Although our first port of call was to give them a new identity, the event will run between the 3rd-5th June 2011 and so we are cracking on with creating the brand including stationery, website, marketing collateral and event signage.

Back of the net!

December 2010

MERRY CHRISTMAS
This year we thought we’d go with a simple ‘tree’ towel just incase it’s your turn to do the dishes on the 25th.

Providing you have been a good little girl or boy this year - no doubt one is on it’s way to you. If you didn't get one - it’s probably due to the snow. Everyone else is playing the snow card so why can’t we?

Thanks to all our clients, friends and family who have supported us thus far. Next year we’ll be 6 years old. Hope we get some wrinkle cream from Santa!

FROZEN JUNGLE WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE OF, THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN’T DO
‘Snow go’ were the dreaded words from British Airways AND American Airlines whilst trying to get out to New York for Christmas. Three days later and a free business class upgrade, Karl set off and finally made it to the Empire State.

It didn’t take long for the blizzard to kick in Stateside. New mug in hand and lots of tea later, the cold was finally braved with a trip to Times Square and a sensational dinner at Becco.

IT’S ALL KICKED OFF...
Former West Ham Legend Martin ‘Mad Dog’ Allen and Blackpool FC star DJ Campbell’s X-Factor for football has now been launched - website and all!

The ProFC website has already attracted a huge interest for the inaugral training camp to be held in February at Warwick University.

EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Check out our branding as seen in The Sun.

November 2010

GIZ A JOB...
We’ve just returned from checking out our work at Careers in Sport + Leisure, the only national careers event for the sport and leisure industry which this year successfully attracted 5,000 young people to the event.

GRAD-TASTIC!
Also at CSL 2010, our friends at 110% officially launched SportGrads and we wish them all the best with this innovative recruitment venture.

October 2010

BLUE 42... BLUE 42... HUT
Having recently completed a series of personalised invitations for our friends at the NFL, we were treated to a money can’y buy experience at the recent NFL International Series at Wembley Stadium.

In the pre match meal, Darren was lucky enough to not only meet Bronco’s legend John Elway, but he got his replica shirt signed!

Lesson learned - always carry a Sharpie in the back pocket as opposed to a biro!

PRO HOW...
We were approached by former QPR and West Ham United legend, Martin Allen, to help him with his new coaching project - Professional Football Camp. Pro FC intends to run a series of soccer schools giving children the opportunity to pursue a career in football.

Website coming soon...

FAN-TASTIC!
We are currently working with Chelsea Football Club on a digital fan based project which will be ‘kicking off’ very soon. Well keep you (goal) posted - sorry... we couldn’t resist that one...

IPARTNERS
We are proud to announce that THE FOREST has been named as isportconnect’s Official Creative Partner.

We are currently working on their corporate collateral and will be launched in the up and coming weeks.

September 2010

DOING IT FOR THE KIDS
We were recently called up out of the blue by the East Midlands Gifted and Talented Education programme who needed a set of posters to promote events and activities within Derbyshire and even Russia!?! EMGaTE offers a wide range of opportunities for pupils, young people, teachers and educational professionals through its activity programmes.

Delivered by specialists and professionals in the field of Gifted and Talented education, the events programme offers workshops, master classes, summer schools (including residential) from single days to week long activities as well as an annual conference.

E I E I E I O - OFF TO LEADERS WE WILL GO

We just got samples of our new event collateral for this years Leaders event consisting of Leaders in Football, Leaders in Performance and Leaders in Sponsorship.

The event will run over two dates at Chelsea FC from the 6th-7th October 2010.

"HE’S ONLY HIT THE BEANS ON TOAST!*"
On a recent trip to the US, Karl stumbled onto the best soccer bar in Brooklyn. A simply sensational name for a footy bar run by a Gooner and a Fulham fan!?!?

Check them out if you are in town. http://www.woodworkbk.com

* Thanks to Paul Merson for THAT little gem

MOTIVATE Wii MUST
Wii (geddit?) have literally just finished the identity for Innovate 2 Motivate. I2M is a programme that encourages children to get off the computer and do some REAL sport.

Darren thinks this is a great idea as he is truly bored of getting thrashed by Karl on Pro Evolution Soccer! On a more serious note, we will be rolling out brand guidelines and website very soon - keep checking…

BOOM BOOM!
We have just finished the delegate brochure for the British Association for Sport and the Law event to be held at Chelsea FC at the end of the month. We may as well live at Stamford Bridge at the moment!

SPORTBUSINESS ULTIMATE SPORTS WEBSITE AWARDS 2010
Karl got a phonecall from SportBusiness asking him to comment on the best five websites in sport in 2010 following the decisions of an expert judging panel.

Click here to read the article

SKINS OR SHIRTS?
Karl and Peter Saville mentioned in the same article? He’ll take that all day long! Our Creative Director was asked by Design Week his thoughts on the newly designed England strip.

August 2010

FINALLY
...and relax. The football season is back upon us. The boys in the office now have something to talk about other than the hairdressers (Karl excluded - sorry).

Fantasy Football is also back in the studio. We’re members of http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ if you are bothered. If you are feeling extra hard - come and have a go if you fancy a kickabout - code 93784-38615

UP THE FOREST INDEED
A surprise package arrived this morning in the post from our friends at Coca-Cola - a signed Nottingham Forest shirt for our ever growing collection in the studio.

TEAM LOOKS LIKE A DREAM
File copies of the flyers and posters for our new client - Theatre, Entertainment, Arts, Music (TEAM) have just arrived in the studio.

Definitely something to sing and dance about!

PONG!
This month we were invited by our friends at He said - She said to a table tennis competition at Golden Square, Soho as part of the ‘Ping London’ initiative.

Ping! is an innovative three year project that will provide new opportunities for the public to participate in social and competitive Table Tennis free of charge.

Due to weather conditions, the venue was changed last minutes to… er… King's Cross St. Pancras er… platform!?! and competed against creative agencies in London, the first two names out of the hat were THE FOREST and our old foes at FiveFootSix.

As we were a man down, we invited our client Mark Painting from Football Superstars as we knew he is a bit of a tasty ping ponger*

We made it all the way to the Big Finale via Wieden and Kennedy and He said - She said.

We could not believe our luck to actually meet Five Foot Six in the final - the match Karl had looked forward to ever since Algy destroyed him at darts.

The pressure got too much for our Creative Director as we bowed out graciously...

A great night had by all - heres to the next one...

* Clients technically can’t be known as ringers!

July 2010

LARRY IS NO LET DOWN
Princes Club favourite, Larry ‘The Nobe’ Donaghey has just returned from the IWWF Wakeboard World Championships in Neubrandenburg, Germany and the British Cable Wakeboard National Championships where he bought back Bronze and Gold respectively.

THE FOREST are proud sponsors of the cheeky Chelsea chap - well done Larry! We love ya, we love ya...

Thanks to Laura Christian for the pics...

MAKING THE GRAD
We have just completed the identity for SportGrads which is the country’s newest and most innovative recruitment programme focusing on creating opportunities for the most talented young people that wish to pursue a career in sport.

We are currently working with our friends at 110%, developing the brand further, producing marketing and sales collateral including website...

The programme aims to launch at this years Careers in Sport + Leisure in Telford.

YOU’RE A SUPERSTAR, THAT’S WHAT YOU ARE...
We have literally just completed the new identity for the free to play football game, Football Superstars...

The new identity will be rolled out across the website and various trade and consumer magazines in the next month or so.

Football Superstars is the first and only Virtual Football World. An entire online football game designed by football fans exclusively for football fans, where you can enjoy a massive multiplayer experience on your computer.

Fancy a click about?

WORLD CUP FEVER
We have been working with the Football Federation Australia on World Cup Lounge collateral - funnily enough, just in time for the World Cup!

SHUTTING THE DOOR ON... STOCK
We have just produced a new range of clip art for Sungard Availability Services

They will be used across their presentations - internally and externally and hopefully will give them more stand out against their competitors.

WE’RE PART OF THE TEAM
We have just finished the brand identity for South East London based arts group, TEAM, who teach a series of classes in Theatre, Entertainment, Arts and Music to young people. Whether you wanna bounce like Beyonce or strut it like Shakira, the guys at TEAM will have something for you.

Not only have we developed the brand, we have created a bespoke typeface that will work of a range of collateral including posters, flyers, t-shirts, bags and their website.

Shake it, shake it shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture...

June 2010

COME ON ENGLAND!
To get into the spirit of things in the studio, the new signed shirt from 15 current England squad members including David Beckham is now on show.

We thought it very apt to stick it next to the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ picture - hopefully Team England may adopt this mentality also... Come on boys - do us proud and let‘s all pray that it doesn’t go to penalties!!

FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL
We have been working with the Football Federation Australia on World Cup Lounge collateral - funnily enough, just in time for the World Cup!

This was produced and turned around so quickly that we don’t have a sample to show you just yet... As soon as we get one, we’ll blog away!

VIVA LAS VOLCANO!!
So... having got the call from Virgin Atlantic the night before we were supposed to depart for this years NAB conference in Las Vegas, we were told that we had been officially ‘Volcanoed’.

The trip was cancelled and we missed the show for 2010. The upshot of it all was that we got rescheduled for June and that we would be home in time for tea to watch the opening ceremony of the World Cup. Darren claims to have had an amazing time in Nevada where he rode the bull in Gilley’s at Treasure Island AND won BIG on the slots. In order to celebrate he took us out for a slap up meal at Denny’s - thank you Darren - $34.50 makes you a REAL playa!

May 2010

MAY-FEVER
We are currently working with GlaxoSmithKilne on a range of hayfever products which will be hitting the chemist shelves very soon... Watch this space

UP THE FOREST
We have been working on a project with photographer Laurence Dutton with good old fashioned wooden type.

We couldn’t resist making our own little message whilst he wasn’t looking!

SIMPLY BOWLED OVER
Congratulations to the England Cricket Team for winning the 20/20 World Cup in Bridgetown earlier this week.

Staying on the cricket theme we are very proud to announce that THE FOREST are currently working in partnership with McKenzie Clark with The Rose Bowl, Hampshire Cricket and Hampshire Royals on various design projects including stadium branding and wayfinding.

Thanks to our friends at Action Images

April 2010

IN THE LIME-LIGHT!
The proofs for the new Careers in Sport + Leisure brochure have just landed in the studio and are zesty-tastic.

Keep an eye out for other CSL collateral that we will be producing in the up and coming weeks...

WAY OUT WEST
Good luck to Lee Westwood who is over in Augusta for the 2010 Masters.

We know Lee is a big fan of THE FOREST and hopefully the Worksop Boy Wonder will bring home that Green Jacket!

Thanks to our friends at Action Images

THE REAL DEAL!
We just got our signed David Beckham shirt back from the framers. The shirt itself is from the 2006-2007 season which was Golden Balls’ last season with the Galactico’s where they were crowned Champions of La Liga.

Come and have a look if you think your’e hard enough...

March 2010

EL CLASSICO!
THE FOREST were back in La Manga courtesy of LeadersinFootball for a weekend of football, networking and karaoke!

Darren and Karl were hand picked to play for Input Media and SportFive respectively to show off their silky skills. Input Media unfortunatley bombed out in the preliminaries, however, an inspired controversial hat-trick by Karl helped the SportFive team all the way to semis.

It was clear to see that their midfield general (drafted in from Liverpool F.C.) was heavily missed due to an earlier injury. The team were beaten convincingly by Supponor who went on to win the tournament on penalties.

To top off a great day on and off the pitch, Karl picked up ‘Best Goal Celebration’ at the Awards Dinner later on that night - Great Balls of Fire!

ALIVE, ALIVE-O
As we recently started working with pmp legacy, we were invited to their annual conference - Legacy Lives at the Raddison Edwardian, New Providence Wharf.

Although it took us a lifetime to get there, the conference itself was really informative and the collateral we designed & produced looked great.

IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR...
We have just completed the identity and brand guidelines for Hazelwoods Solicitors & Mediators. Working closely with their team, we are helping them roll out their new brand over stationery, advertisements, corporate literature and website.

WE WANT BREW!
Calling all placements and Junior Designers... we are on the look out for talented individuals.

Please send through your CV for the attention of Linda Edwards at our normal address.

GREEN ARRRRMY!
Darren turned out once again for P.A.S.A.L.B. F.C. (Plymouth Argyle Supporters London Branch) in Division Two of ‘APFSCIL’ (THE ASSOCIATION OF PROVINCIAL FOOTBALL SUPPORTERS’ CLUBS IN LONDON) this weekend, beating Exeter City 4-0, unfortunately not officially getting on the score sheet this week, although claims the ball did brush past him when they went four up from a corner. Next week Blackburn away, well not so far north it’s actually in Chiswick, West London.

February 2010

SIMPLY FAB-ULOUS...
Friday was an amazing day here at THE FOREST. We were invited by our friends at LeadersinPerformance to an intimate interview with England Coach, Fabio Capello.

Steering well clear of players, WAGS and all the jazz, James Worrall, CEO of Executive Sport interviewed Mr. Capello for around 45 minutes and touched on topics such as passion, drive and motivation within football.

Mr. Capello wouldn’t talk about his tactics for winning the World Cup in June but but we wished him all the best afterwards over champagne!

Images courtesy of our friends at Action Images

INFORM NINE - HOT OFF THE PRESS
The latest issue of INFORM magazine for The Institute for Sport, Parks & Leisure is OUT! The main topics for this issue are Workforce and Learning & Development. Above a a few selected spreads. Issue Ten will soon be on its way which will focus on Membership and Ambassadorship.

CONSTRUCTION TIME AGAIN
So... we find out the day before that we have tickets to see Depeche Mode at the O2. Whoop!

Leave in plenty of time to get there but hadn’t encountered the Jubilee Line NOT working and having to go to Stratford and then get a replacement bus via Canning Town and West Ham.

Post concert, having missed half of it, we stand in a queue to get the replacement bus back for near on two hours. Finally get to Stratford to be informed we have missed the last tube.

Never mind, only another £32 in a cab to get back to SW London... Everything counts in large amounts!

INTERNATIONAL BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS
We have been working with BOTH The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games and the Singapore Sports Council on their event branding for Legacy Lives, hosted by pmp genesis.

WE DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU HEARD ABOUT ME, BUT WE ARE WORKING WITH PMP...
We recently started working with pmp legacy on collateral for their up and coming Legacy Lives event based in London on 3 - 5 March 2010 at the Raddison Edwardian, New Providence Wharf.

Here is the concertina brochure we designed for them which will be handed out on their stand (that we also designed) at the event.

NICE ICE, BABY
Whilst talking a tourist-esque walk through Leichester-shire Square on the weekend were we able to see a repeat of the opening ceremony of the 16th Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, Cananda.

Originally held in Chamonix, France (where Karl tells us he has also competed for Great Britain) in 1924.

During the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, approximately 2,500 will compete in 15 sports and over 86 separate medal events.

Good Luck Team GB - bring us back a pair of gloves!

JOB, JOB, JOBBING ALONG (NICELY)...
THE FOREST have just completed the branding for the 2010 instalment of Careers in Sport + Leisure, starting by giving the website a facelift.

The task in hand for 2010 was to build and develop what we produced for the inaugural event which was based in 2009 at the Sheffield Arena.

2010 sees the event move to the International Centre, Telford and will take place in November.

Between now and then, we will be working closely with our friends at 110% to deliver posters, flyer, sales brochures and even more event branding than the last time.

INFORM 8 IS OUT
Happy New Year, Happy New INFORM!

Here are a couple of new spreads taken from the latest issue of INFORM that we design and produce for The Institute for Sport, Parks & Leisure.

Having just returned back from ISPAL HQ, we can confirm that work has already begun on the content for the next four issues for 2010. We can also confirm that it is warmer at ISPAL than it is in THE FOREST and there is less snow!

December 2009

SOCK IT TO 'EM...
So as every good design company will tell you, the best time to start the company Christmas Card is about 2 weeks before it is supposed to go out.

This year we 'technically' broke the mould.

Six weeks prior we had been on a hunt to find some novelty sock with christmas trees on them - should be simple enough right? Wrong!

We searched high and low - including the Leather Lane street market sock man, who had a brain wave and asked us 'Have you tried looking online?'

When we told him yes, he took our name and said 'I know a man in the North. There are all kind of socks up that way. Give me your number and I'll get back to you.'

We gave him our number and returned to the studio completley 'socked off!'

When asked by The Dazzler (the other Darren in the studio) why we were so upset, he said he couldn't believe we couldn't find any... At the point we told him we had spent six weeks looking on the internet he typed in 'tree socks' into our favourite search engine and found these bad boys.

34 pairs in St. Albans - Thank you magic elf - Ruth
25 pairs in Brixton
5 pairs in Putney
16 pairs on The Strand
28 pairs in Guildford - Thank you magic elf - Afro Dave
14 pairs in Canary Wharf - Thank you magic elf - Clive
11 pairs in Oxford Street
and 6 pairs in Clapham Junction later, we returned to the studio were Santa's Little Helper sprinkled them magic dust and sent them to all the good little girl and boy clients.

The naughty little girl and boys clients missed out. Nothing to do with us, but rules are rules.

We would like to thank ALL our clients, friends and family for all your support in 2009. Fingers, arms and legs crossed that 2010 will be far better.

Merry Christmas from all at THE FOREST including the magic elves.

IT’S FRIDAY NIGHT, IT’S LONDON TOWN...
The last day in the studio was pretty manic to say the least. Not only did Karl’s new Vestax VCI-300 arrive, but he had to dash to Brown Sugar in order to play a 90 minute set. Admitedley ‘playing a few bangers FAR TOO early’, we were very impressed with his A Tribe called Quest selection.

Straight after, it was off to the HMV Forum to see Shed Seven where DJ Forest met his hero Rick Witter at the aftershow party. Rock n roll Karl, Rock n Roll!

2009 BOARD MEETING
Its that time of year again where we jet off to Tignes, France for the annual (snow) Board Meeting and staff Christmas Party!

Not everyone from the studio could make it this year but we thought it only fair to go anyway.

November 2009

TOP OF THE TABLE!
We recentley got an invite to the Chelsea Pitch Owners Annual Lunch 2009 - funnily enough at Chelsea Football Club!

Apart from kicking it with Tore Andre Flo, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Dennis Wise, Ron 'Chopper' Harris, Scott Minto and England Captain, John Terry, we spent most of the day with our friends Joanna and Ben from Alexander Ross and Kerrie and Jules at Chelsea FC and just wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you for their kind invitation.

Karl also managed to bump into his old pal, Terry Venables inbetween courses. They managed to keep it brief as neither of them wanted their trifle to get cold?!?

MOST EXCELLENT
ISPAL have launcehed a new programme designed to support the continued drive for greater entrepreneurial skills and expertise.

We have created the identity for the 'The Excellence in Entrepreneurship' programme and will consist of eight intensive half day seminars covering the core subject areas.

WE'RE ALL OF TO SUNNY SPAIN, A VIVA LA MANGA...
We are just back from La Manga having spent a few days with the LeadersinFootball team reviewing the past year and how we move forward for 2010.

It wasn't all work, work, work mind you - we got a chance to relax in beautiful surroundings, play tennis (moving on Darren) and playing football on pitches that have hosted some of the best players in the world - Andy Rice included.

Many thanks to Leadersinfootball for inviting us and proving even more that we are valued member of their team.

SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! A whopping 7 new design books arrived today for our creative corner within our library at THE FOREST. We want to sit and read them but we are far too busy...

TYPICAL! You wait for one SUMO and two come at once! (see September). We are currently working with SUMO Investments - initially on their Christmas card however, we are sure there are much BIGGER things to come...

October 2009

IN THE SPOTLIGHT AT LEADERSINFOOTBALL
Members of THE FOREST squad, namely Karl, Darren, Natasha and Nina turned out at Stamford Bridge for LeadersinFootball and LeadersinPerformance.

TV celebrity Karl tells us that this isn't the first time he had appeared on SKY, BBC and ITV although he won't give anymore away...

Click here to see our LeadersinFootball/Performance showcase...

NEARLY TIME FOR KICK OFF
LeadersinFootball and LeadersinPerfermance are nearly upon us. We thought we would give you a sneak preview of our event branding that you will see all over the place at Chelsea F.C.

We would also like to take the opportunity to say many thanks to our friends at ICON Display for their production skills and putting our designs in a league of their own...

September 2009

A LOAD OF SIXES AND SEVENS
Here are some of the feature spreads taken from INFORM 6 and 7. The two issues focus primarily on Parks and Local Authorities respectively.

The spreads shown here reiterate how fresh we are allowed to keep INFORM on behalf of ISPAL. Its hard to believe that the first edition which was designed from scratch was send out nearly two years ago.

Keep an eye out for the bumper edition which should be out just in time for Christmas depending on whether you have been good or not!

LET'S BOWL, DUDE
We have just got back from a night of singing and bowling with our client, Lewis Silkin. The Chancery Lane crew were all over the karaoke - obviously we can't mention names but they know who they are... Take That and party!

LIGHTS, CAMERA... ACTION
We are VERY PROUD to announce that we are working with Action Images on various marketing communications projects starting with HTML Email newsletters - BACK of the net!

A pint of your best Irn-Bru please landlord!

July 2009

IN THE LEAD
The sales brochure proofs for LeadersinFootball 2009 have just come into the studio for our approval. Once printed, the brochure will be circulated worldwide, hoping to generate even more delegates and exhibitors than last year...

Just thought you may like to know that our telephone number has changed to 020 7099 1812. Not much point telling you about the website as you are looking at it. We'd love any feedback. Tell us what you reckon by clicking here...

June 2009

WHAT A PERFORMANCE
We have been helping our friends at Executive Sport with their latest event, LeadersinPerformance. The event will be part of the LeadersinFootball conference at Chelsea Football Club in October later this year and as you can see we are on-side by a mile with the existing branding.

May 2009

SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE?
Thanks to Lewis Silkin, the PS3 in the studio has now been getting threats of going wondering unless certain people here get pay rises... Times are tough at the moment so hopefully, the new issue of newsnotes will keep them quiet.

HORSES FOR COURSES
Our favourite client took us to the gee gee's earlier this month for some sensational racing and nose bag. Out of 12 races, we won (THE FOREST) a whopping £2.50. Yes, that's right... £2.50! We weighed into a top class, SW London night club in order to spend our winnings.

WE'RE FOLLOWING THE LEADER...
The new LeadersinFootball website has been launched - hooray. We even made it into Design Week - Double Hooray! The new branding will continue to be rolled out in the build up to the event at Chelsea FC in October...

April 2009

BOOM, BOOM, POW!
Back from Rehab, the Bellagio Fountains and NAB 2009, Karl says he's getting too old for the Nevada Extravaganza. He tells us its all work and no play. Constant networking and cocktail parties must really wear you down, Karl...

March 2009

SING YER HEART OUT FOR THE LADS...
THE FOREST have created the identity for an online forum based on Football from North of the Border. The site is aimed at the Sottish National and Scottish Premier League fans who are encouraged to provoke football-esqe discussions and banter. The website aims to kick-off prior to the 2009-2010 season. Now sit down and shut up!

The new collateral for the ISPAL National Conference has just landed in the studio. Inspiring a More Active Society is a two day conference based near Warwick and will have an array of top quality speakers from the Sports and Leisure sector.

I'LL BE BACK
Krizstian Timar is not only known as 'The Beast from Budapest' but cleverly as 'The Timarnator' (get it!?!?). Darren has been inspired to make a cult t-shirt to sell to his fellow Argyle supporters. Kriz liked them so much, he wears them under his matchday jersey, seen here hanging in the dressing room of the Emirates Stadium.

GOL, GOL, GOL, GOL, GOL AND GOL!
Still on the football tip, Darren is back from a weekend of culture in the city of Barcelona. He was lucky enough to get tickets to the game to see Barca smash SIX past Malaga. Bueno... We also got a new fridge magnet - Si Claro, Amigo!

December 2008

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE FOREST
If we know you, you've probably just recieved our Christmas card. Here is a little movie showing you how to use it just incase there is any confusion.

We would like to thank our family, our friends and most importantly, our clients for helping us get this far.

Merry Christmas...

TOP OF THE TREE
We have just had the LeadersinFootball Christmas Card delivered to the studio. Back of the net!

THE FOREST CHRISTMAS BOARD MEETING
Rather than an hour on the London Eye or scampi and chips at the local Wetherspoons for the works do, we decided that a face full of snow in Tignes, France would be far better. Everyone from the studio came along apart from Paul's bag, who decided a weekend in Gatwick airport was far more RAD!

INFORM 4
The latest BUMPER edition of INFORM has been mailed out to it's members just in time for Christmas. The issue focuses on the run up to London 2012 and is packed with energetic articles. Run Forest, Run!

November 2008

The Careers in Sport + Leisure brouchure has just been mailed out by our pals at 110% Marketing for their latest event for 2009. Based over two days at the Sheffield Arena, CSL aims to attract over 3,000 students in order to help them get a foot in the door in the sport and leisure sector.

October 2008

STAND UP IF YOU LOVE (OUR) DESIGN!
In order to give us some clout at LeadersinFootball this month, we have created a consertina showcase of our work to dish out to attendees. It cleverly turns into a scarf just incase you need to show your colours.

Please feel free to come and have a go if you think our designs are nice enough!

THE FOREST PLAY AT CHELSEA!
We have been busy down at Stamford Bridge for the inaugral LeadersinFootballl conference. We were very proud sponsors of the workshop area where young Karl got to meet his hero, David Beckham. It wasn't until our boss arrived that he realised that David was unreal and larger than life on and off the pitch!

Many thanks to LeadersinFootball and Action Images for allowing us to use their imagery.

AND THEN, UNLIKE GARY LINEKER, WE GOT BOOKED :(
Our direct mail piece consisted of two business cards in a black referee style wallet which went down a storm. We got booked quite a few times and NOT sent away for an early bath. Our particulars where taken down in the handy note pad.

September 2008

IT MARS BE PARTY TIME!
The Golden Ticket has just arrived in the studio to the annual Lewis Silkin Litigation party. Hopefully we'll get the real thing and not just the printer's sample. - that way - 'Everyone's a winner baby, that's the truth!'

SING WHEN YOU'RE NOT QUEUING!
We have been working on a series of press ads for stadium ticketing specialists, Stadiacard. Hopefully, we scored a couple of crackers with their team.

WE STILL LOVE ME!
London Calling 2008, last week, was back - bigger than ever at Earl's Court. We were asked by Lewis Silkin to develop last year's idea even further as it was such a hit! We opted for an audio casette case to hold the memory stick and an inlay which contained tracks like 'Don't you want ME', 'Don't you forget about ME' and 'Call ME'.

What with even more badges and T-shirts we thought the whole stand was top of the pops!

May 2008

ACE!
Adventure Island Mini Golf has finally opened at Star City, Birmingham. After working with 110% Marketing on the project, both companies attended the launch along with the Breakfast Show from Heart FM.

Competitive bosses Karl and Jay went toe to toe. Although, Jay went round with a better score, there was abit of controversy, what with the rubber balls popping out of the holes from time to time, but hey... the client always wins... right!?!?

JUMP TO IT...
The material for the ISPAL National Conference for the Sports and Active Leisure Sector has just come back from the printers. Apparently, we're not the only ones jumping for joy!

DO YER WANNA BE IN MY GANG?
We have just finished producing the Corporate Membership lbrochure for the Institute for Sport, Parks & Leisure.

YOU'VE GOT MAIL
Lewis Silkin recentley asked us to redesign a series of email templates. Using their current branding, we applied our designs to their existing CMS so that new emails could be generated and sent out easily.

BANKING ON US!
We will be working on a project with Kleinwort Benson, recently awarded Best Private Bank 2008 by readers of the FT and Investors Chronicle, to design their regional newsletter.

The newsletter will be sent to their networks of professional partners in the regions where Kleinwort Benson has offices and will update them regularly on KB's views on the financial markets and investment products.

April 2008

WHO ATE ALL THE PIES?
You could say that we are becoming rather greedy here at THE FOREST what with all the football related work that is currently going through the studio.

Well, we have just been appointed brand guardians for Executive Soccer International.

We will be working closely with them to produce both their online and offline collateral which will be used to launch the event based in Chelsea Village sometime this year...

IPHONY
"I'm NOT buying one."
"I don't see why I should have to change networks."
"I'll get an unlocked one!"
"Who cares about visual voicemail."
"I'm waiting until they bring the new one out."

If we had a pound for everytime Karl has said one of the above since November, we reckon we would have had about £700 which could have been spent on a new spray booth AND a Xyron machine...

So, on the weekend, he went, he saw, he got excited. He plugged it onto his mac. To be told that if he wanted to keep his original number then he would need a PAC code from Orange. 5 days later - he is still waiting. All he can do is slide the button across...

Karl officially has the most expensive door stopper in the world - but hey - at least its designed by Apple...

JUST DO IT ORANGE, YEAH?
We have just completed the internal corporate guidelines for lawyers Lewis Silkin. Just to point out - No - they didnt come in their own special mug, however, THAT would have been a nice idea. Maybe we can lend them the one we have in the studio if they ever need reminding...

March 2008

KEEPING YOU INFORMED
Just to let you know, that the inaugural members publication INFORM has landed on 3,000 of ISPAL's members doormats.

We would like to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone at ISPAL for all their hard work over the last 5 weeks in order to help make this 48 page magazine happen.

February 2008

ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, ME

December 2007

NYC, YA!
Whilst being on a 'research' project, yet again, young Karl has been kicking it with his celebrity friends. After having a word with his pal Gordon (see November 2006), he decided to pop into The London, NYC to dine in style (are we paying for this Karl?!?) with his old mucker, restaurant director, Jean-Baptiste. JB was so over the moon to see Karl, he even served the first course to his table in person...

September 2007

CUP OF TEA AND A SLICE OF CAKE...
So let me get this right... Bake a cake, get some orange candles, take the picture and use it on an ad?? That's what Lewis Silkin asked us to do in order to help them celebrate Haymarket's 50th birthday. It was a piece of cake... We didnt get any mind you :(

CHEESY PICTURE!
This month, THE FOREST welcomes it's first overseas student placement. Manuela hails from the country of cheese, fondue and of course, Toblerone. OH RIGHT... YOU JUST NIPPED...
It was NAB time again recently - well that's what Karl said... To us it's that wonderful time of year when we get given the sacred fridge magnet. He was so thrilled to be 'kicking it' with Vince Vaughan in Foundation at Mandalay Bay, that he 'forgot' to ask for a picture...

I guess these will have to do... Unbelieveable!

ALRIGHT BIG BOY... YES !

It was fridge magnet time again here at THE FOREST as we took our annual trip to NAB in Viva Las Vegas!

When asked if the business trip had been a success, we were 'infomed' that the Adobe stand was 'visually amazing' and the Difference Matting was 'different gravy!' We got TWO fridge magnets as gifts - THANKS KARL - roll on next year!

DUNCAN DARES!
Whilst out celebrating Rachel's 30th birthday in Wandsworth, we bumped into FOREST FRIEND Peter Duncan who gave us some top tips on how to walk on hot coals and how NOT to put your hand into tree stumps in swamps and get bitten... Cheers for that Peter - see you at Rachel's 31st!!

Get us round for a meeting and we'll glady give you one...

CHAMO' MOTHER FUNKY...
It's Christmas P-A-R-T-Y time... After our first succesful year of business, we decided a snowboarding trip was in order. Team Xtreme hit the slopes of Chamonix...

CONGRATULATIONS SHAYNE!
We can finally get back to doing some work here at THE FOREST as the X Factor came to an end on Saturday night where Shayne became the victorious winner after beating Andy and Journey South in the final. We wish him well in the future and look forward to him colaborating with Brenda VERY SOON! Now when does Big Brother start again..?

TOO FAR! FACT
He's finally gone too far... Young Karl has only applied for THE X FACTOR AND GOT AN AUDITION!!!!

Our resident Karaoke King is thinking of getting singing lessons in order to wow Simon, Sharon and Louis.

Fingers crossed Karl - but PLEASE, can we turn off 'Flying without wings!!!!' Up the creek without a paddle more like...

NOW THAT'S A FACT
After Maria's shock departture on Saturday night from the X Factor, we have decided to run a sweep stake here at THE FOREST. Although our very own Karl Hudson has been backed by Journey South in the past, when asked what time is it? he could only reply - IT'S BRENDA TIME!

Saturday was a bad day for THE FOREST... Had we NOT have been on our Christmas do snowboarding in Chamonix, we would have been able to vote for Brenda who sadly departed the show. We love you Brenda and look forward to buying your album soon...

HOLY SMOKE!
THE FOREST were recentley asked to design a brochure for Philip Morris International based upon the results of a one week event in Geneva, Switzerland. Up at sunrise every morning, Toblerone junkies, Karl, Elton and Louise jumped at the opportunity to not only work but to stuff as much triangular chocolate down their necks as possible.

August 2005

SUPER SMASHING GREAT...
Celebrity photographer Gavin Smith was in need of a website in order to showcase his stunning portfolio. A couple of people here at THE FOREST were slightly disappointed that he STILL doesn't have studio hero and legend, Jim Bowen under his belt. If nothing else - it would have made our title slightly more relevant!

July 2005

THE SKY'S THE LIMIT
An on-line auction company that specialise only in aviation equipment have asked THE FOREST to develop an identity in order to get them off the ground. We are also working on the website which will be up, up and away very shortly...

NAB 2005 – Las Vegas
THE FOREST attended this years National Association of Broadcasters, held in Las Vegas. After 8 whole days in Nevada, our very own, Karl Hudson said that the R and R spent in the Bellagio AND The Venitian was well earned. He also tells us that he won BIG on the tables. The fridge magnet we recieved upon his return, obviously proves otherwise.

March 2005

LYTTLE & LARGE
After producing an identity for Soho based photographer, Carl Lyttle, THE FOREST were asked to put his 'rather large' portfolio of pretty pictures on the world wide web - WOOF!

ETEC Components
ETEC Computer Components were in need of a face lift with regards to their current product packaging. THE FOREST eventually came up with two ranges for their standard and wireless products. The design will be implemented across their website later on in the year.

CATWALK-TASTIC!
THE FOREST were recently approached by Aquascutum to produce a DVD ROM in order to showcase their Spring/Summer Collection 2005.

For once we had hoped we may get paid in designer clothes as a couple of people here at THE FOREST (not mentioning names!!) could do with brushing up a tad!
